Commercial electricians work on business-related electrical systems that power retail stores, office buildings, restaurants, hotels, and other similar facilities.
A commercial electrician installs or maintains the wiring, control systems and electrical devices in commercial structures. Typically, commercial electricians begin a project by examining blueprints and technical documents. They are also responsible for following building codes and safety rules.
Commercial electricians inspect new and existing facilities and uses testing equipment to diagnose defects and identify problems. Sometimes, a commercial electrician discusses the job with customers to determine their needs. The fundamental objective of a commercial electrician is to provide a safe, comfortable, energy-efficient, and attractive environment for living, working, and enjoyment.
The systems, equipment, and facilities that must be provided to satisfy functional requirements will vary with the type of facility, but will generally include some or all of the following:

Business machines: Typewriters, computers, calculators, reproduction machines, and word processors.
